Long-Awaited Return of Tavern on Rush Set for September 30 Stefani Restaurant Group Reopens Chicago’s Celebrated Gold Coast Destination with a Bold New Vision CHICAGO – September 20, 2024 – Stefani Restaurant Group will officially reopen the upscale, modern steakhouse and bar Tavern on Rush on September 30, continuing its 25-year legacy in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Now located on the ground and second floor of the luxury hotel, Thompson Chicago at 1015 N. Rush Street, the new space is steps away from its original location. The interior will reflect an updated spin on the original, incorporating rich red accents and a bar that nods to the former location, complemented by custom millwork and imported tile. Spanning two levels, the 16,000-square-foot space includes a main dining room, cocktail lounge, upscale bar, expansive outdoor patio and multiple private event spaces. Touches of nostalgia are woven throughout the space, integrating vintage photos and the refurbished old Tavern on Rush sign, which all honor the original’s nearly 25-year legacy. “As we are about a week away from opening, our guests can anticipate the return of the same charm that has always been associated with the iconic Tavern on Rush. For generations, this restaurant has been a cornerstone of our community, a place that held so many memories,” said owner Phil Stefani. “It’s a privilege to welcome back loyal patrons to experience a new chapter in our story while also inviting new patrons to make new memories together.” Guests can look forward to an even more elevated experience with enhanced food and beverage offerings. Led by Executive Chef Michael ‘Wally’ Wallach, Tavern on Rush will begin by serving dinner daily and will introduce its breakfast, lunch and brunch menus in the coming weeks following the opening. The dinner menu will feature items like USDA prime steaks, fresh seafood and house made Stefani signature pasta dishes. Diners can also expect a robust beverage program that will boast refined cocktails including the Pineapple Express, Oaxacan on Rush and King Reaves as well as one of the most developed wine lists in the city. Stefani Restaurant Group is bringing back many beloved elements from the former Tavern on Rush, including its iconic Ladies Night on Mondays that will debut this fall. Joining the revival is a key figure from the original team, maître d’extraordinaire, Benny Nadzaku, who has been with the Stefani Restaurant Group for over 40 years and played an integral role in the success of the original Tavern on Rush. The original location closed in the summer of 2022 after the decision was made to not renew the lease by the former landlords. Reservations will be available beginning on September 30, and private event inquiries can be made now on the website. Tavern on Rush will open for dinner service starting September 30 |
